Report, the Train Street (Hanoi, vietnam, nov 2007)

The Train Street, Hanoi, Vietnam

In the heart of Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, is located a quiet alley that has its peacefulness shattered between 10 and 15 times a day due to a railway line that runs alongside it. This street lives according to the train’s schedule and has a width that in places does not exceed four meters.

I got interested in those people living often in poor conditions but still doing their best to raise their children propely. In that small universe, one can find restaurants, merchants and craftsmen as one can, in fact, find everywhere else. Living among them, I have never felt any behaviour or atmosphere’s difference, as they simply seem to have learnt how to adapt their everyday life to the railway line.
